And you could do that as an awesome dad to just hover. I think that’s the first thing God did over the Earth. He just hovered. Hover over each person your family like, what is kid number one need that I could only uniquely provide them. Because if they need a ride, they could get Uber to provide. They’d give em a ride. But just say, is there something else they uniquely need that only I could provide and then hover over your spouse and hover over a couple of friends for a moment? And did you say, like, what are they uniquely need that only I could provide.
The pain of our past has stolen our FREEDOM and we are looking through the little rearview mirror and over our shoulder at what should be behind us. The windshield of your life needs to be so much BIGGER than the rearview mirror… Experience the healing that your Heavenly Father wants for you.
“I look at the Holy Spirit not as a dove, but as a sharp elbow. And, you know, and our job is to keep tender ribs so that we feel the nudge of that sharp elbow.”
You can’t make them do anything they don’t want to do. And now on the flip side…. actually you do have influence though. And influence is wonderful because it’s like a continuum. And so your question, your challenge as a dad, as a parent, is to think about how can I maximize my influence while knowing I don’t have control.
We want to see a generation of dads who are builders, who are saying with intentionality and focus with their time, with their money, with their passions. I’m going to build a family. I’m going to build towards having a heart connection with my kids. I’m going to build, in a direction that glorifies the Lord.
Matthew 6:21 “For your heart will always pursue what you value as your treasure”… The more we treasure the dad life the more our heart will pursue more of it. Our heart will pursue what we treasure. My prayer is that you would ENJOY the dad life. You are dadAWESOME.
